Meet extraordinary Christian women in their own words. From a martyr who composed her testimony hours before her execution to nuns who advised kings and popes, from activists who rewrote the laws of nations to a prisoner who documented human rights offenses with her own blood, these women spoke boldly for truth and justice under difficult conditions, inspired by their common faith in Jesus. Each class session will feature selections from one writer’s works and letters, using her life as a window into the age in which she lived. We will thus develop an understanding of Christianity that is global, historical, and committed to the perspectives of those who lack power.
