Faith and Work Summer Experience 2026

CCS's Faith & Work Summer Experience gathers students to explore the theology of work and how to integrate faith with daily life in the office, lab, workshop, or clinic. What’s work for? Does my work have to be a calling? How am I responsible to my family, my education, my gifts and talents, my desires, and my faith? What if these are in competition? Content will come from scholars, poets, theologians, and professionals. The capstone will be a team project in which small groups (you) will lead the class through real-world scenarios.

Program Content
Phase 1: Launch Dinner

Students convene for a launch dinner for fellowship and to set expectations for the summer.

Phase 2: Internships

Students complete a summer internship either by selecting their own or being matched with one of CCS’s internship partners. This phase includes Christian workplace mentorships and weekly readings and discussions (via Zoom) with the internship cohort on various topics regarding faith and work. The capstone will be a team project in which you'll work in small groups to lead the class through real-world scenarios.

Phase 3: Reunion / Celebration Dinner

Students return for a final dinner together just before moving back into the dorms at Duke. There will be time for student reflections on the summer as well as an analysis of your interests, strengths, and challenges as you consider your future study and career.
